Two dads in Bogotá smiling with their newborn and U.S. passport after successful surrogacy journey

Your Baby’s Passport U.S. Embassy Bogotá

Same-Day U.S. Passport in Bogotá? Yes, It’s Possible. Here’s How.

U.S. Embassy Bogotá has good news. Planning your surrogacy journey in Colombia? Here’s one reason to feel at ease: you can now get your baby’s U.S. passport the same day at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá.

As two-time parents through surrogacy in Colombia, we’ve experienced this firsthand—and we’ve learned how to make it smooth, fast, and stress-free.

Our Story: Two Kids, Two Passports at U.S. Embasy Bogotá

We welcomed our son, Jovani, in 2024. It took three days to get his U.S. passport at the U.S. Embassy Bogotá. Not bad. But when our daughter Atiana was born in 2025, we were thrilled to discover a faster, streamlined process.

With a few smart steps, we left the embassy with her passport the same day.
And yes, we were cleared to fly home just hours later.

What’s Changed? The U.S. Embassy Bogotá Process Is Now Online

Here’s how it works:

  1. Start your passport application online.
You’ll complete the forms through the U.S. State Department website.
  2. Book your appointment immediately after.
You’ll schedule your visit with the U.S. Citizen Services at the U.S. Embassy Bogotá.
  3. Apply for the CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) at the same time.
You don’t need two separate appointments anymore!
  4. Show up prepared.
On the day of your appointment, arrive at the U.S. Citizen Services entrance.
(My guide includes a map and checklist to help you find it and stay organized.)

What to Expect at the U.S Embassy Bogotá

The U.S. Embassy in Bogotá is surprisingly warm and welcoming. There’s a shaded patio, outdoor seating, and space to review your documents.

Inside, you’ll go through the following:

  • A triage station, where helpful staff guide you through what comes next.
  • Two quick security checks.
  • Four windows:
    • Window 1: Make any needed payments
    • Window 2–3: Document review
    • Window 4: Interview + Oath

After that? You’ll receive a card letting you know when to return—same day—to pick up your baby’s passport.

Why This Matters

If you’re choosing surrogacy in Colombia, this one detail makes the whole experience easier, faster, and more affordable.

A same-day passport means fewer hotel nights, no drawn-out embassy visits, and peace of mind that your return home is just hours away.
